Tasting Notes
One of the great value for money Barossa Shiraz going around. Tim Smith produces a rich style of Barossa Shiraz a nice twist of peppery savouriness giving the wine that little bit extra compared to other wines from the same region. - Chris L
Based in Barossa Valley, Tim Smith Wines was founded by Tim Smith in 2001 after a long winemaking career with some of the region’s respected houses and vintages overseas. The label is deeply inspired by the Rhône—both North and South—and Tim applies those influences to Barossa’s classic varietals, especially Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, as well as whites like Viognier and Riesling from Eden Valley. Fruit is sourced from old-vine vineyards and trusted grower sites; the approach in the winery is hands-off, focused on letting the fruit speak clearly while managing oak, extraction and fermentations with restraint. Tim’s wines are rich and structured enough for the long haul, yet retain brightness, drinkability and expression—wines he genuinely wants to drink himself.
