Tasting Notes
Looking at the grapes in this blend (Tempranillo, Nebbiolo, & Shiraz Viognier) you may think it a big wine; but my first feel was of fresh and bright savoury fruit, held in check by good tannin & acid bite. Think blue and black fruits without heavy alcohol (13.5%) or oak. Nice to see some age adding to the quality and complexity. - Michael L
Topper's Mountain is named after brothers Edward and William Topper, employees of George Jnr. and Alwyn Wyndham (sons of George Wyndham, founder of Wyndham Estate). George Jnr. and Alwyn owned New Valley Station, which included the present day Topper's Mountain. Mark Kirkby established the current vineyard between 1998 and 2002, with his wife, Stephanie and three daughters. - Winery Note
