Tasting Notes
A more restrained and finely cut expression, showing white peach, citrus and delicate floral notes with a fresh herbal lift. The palate is taut and precise, driven by bright acidity and a clear mineral edge. Less about power and more about detail and tension, with a long, clean finish and a structure that will reward time in bottle. - Pete L
Located in the historic heart of the Wiltingen monastery hills, Van Volxem is a standard-bearer for the resurgence of the Saar. Under the visionary leadership of Roman Niewodniczanski, the estate has meticulously restored some of the region’s most prestigious steep-slope, slate vineyards to their former glory. The winemaking philosophy is rooted in tradition, utilizing indigenous yeasts, neutral oak foudres, and extended lees ageing to produce Rieslings with incredible texture and "slate-driven" minerality. These are wines of profound harmony and moderate alcohol, eschewing modern tricks in favour of a rich, tactile mouthfeel and a shimmering acidity that reflects the unique, cool-climate terroir of the Saar.
