Tasting Notes
Touriga Nacional is thought to have originated from the Dao region of Portugal and today is known as the preeminent variety of Portuguese red wine. A vine that grows robustly in warm conditions it's perfectly suited to the climate & soil conditions of Langhorne Creek. It leads with ripe plum over signature lavender and violet, then it's blackcurrant Fruit Pastilles wrapped in that uniquely Touriga tannin profile. Harvested relatively early the aim is a contemporary, complex flavoured yet medium-bodied style. Restraint allows us to capture the alluring & distinct characteristics of the variety. - Winery Note
Here at Vinteloper we're having a debate about nature vs nurture. In winemaking which is best? Made from exactly the same grapes as ODEON Riesling, the artistic framework here is nuture; to use all the tools available to tweak and tinker in the chase for perfection. From 2015 is a wine that fills us with pride, as those small adjustments yield tangible improvements from previous releases. It's that last 2% that is the hardest to achieve.Layer upon layer of mineral, crunch, lime & florals, highlighted by the searing natural acidity reinforces the potential longevity of Riesling. - Winery Note
