Tasting Notes
These have got to be some of my favourite skin contact (orange) white wines in the world. If you ever thought orange wines were too harsh, too bitter and too much, the Vodopivec wines will redefine orange wines for you. Solo is produced from Vodopivec's favourite and greatest 1.3 hectare vineyard. It is fermented in amphora on skins and aged in large format oak (botti) for 2 years. The Solo is serious yet seamless and speaks of purity and minerality. It's both thought-provoking and dreamy. - Chris L
The 6 hectare, organically farmed vineyard is solely planted to the variety Vitovska, a rare and almost extinct variety of Friuli in Italy's north-east. These wines see up to 12 months of skin contact in amphora, yet are so delicately handled you can expect an elegant, ethereal and fine wine. They age brilliantly over time in a good cellar where they build in weight, flavour and intensity. - Chris L
