Tasting Notes
One of the most elegant Australian Chardonnay's you will come across. This finely structured, supple wine from the Yarra Valley speaks eloquently of premier cru Chablis, similar in style to that of Christophe Pere & Fils if you know it. Delicate white stone fruit, perfume of honey suckle and that beautiful oyster shell minerality that can be sensed on both the nose and palate. I've come to adore these lighter styles of Chardonnay when they're produced in Australia and this is one of the best. Beautiful. - Chris L
The Wanderer is the side project for Gembrook Hill winemaker, Andrew Marks. While all the fruit for Gembrook Hill comes from the small vineyard planted by his parents in the 1980s, The Wanderer wines offer Andrew the chance to explore the differing terroirs of the Yarra Valley, as well as experiment with different winemaking techniques.
His skill and intuition as a winemaker shine through in the wines, speaking clearly of their place, whilst remaining captivatingly delicious. These are wines that we'd wander a fair way for.
