Tasting Notes
There is plenty going on before you even taste it, layers of ripe yellow fruit, a floral lift, a touch of kiwi and lively minerality. The palate goes the other way entirely, all sharp lemon and lime with grapefruit pith and citrus oil. The mousse is fine and gentle rather than aggressive, and the acidity drives straight through to a finish that goes on and on. Seriously well put together. A real thirst quencher. - Pete L
Werkstatt is a small-batch, minimal-intervention wine project, inspired by the great wines of Germany. The focus is on sustainably farmed fruit sourced from Mount Gambier, with an emphasis on Riesling.
The wines are bright, textural and full of energy, often bottled as fresh, early-drinking expressions that highlight fruit purity and a sense of playfulness. Werkstatt represents a new generation of Australian producers—creative, terroir-conscious and intent on making wines that are both distinctive and approachable.
