Tasting Notes

Pecorino from the central Italian region of Abruzzo. Zaccagnini have produced a relatively weighty wine full of fruit and leesy texture. Beautifully balanced and round, with enough interest for the wine aficionados among you. - Chris L

Founded in 1978 in Bolognano, Abruzzo, Cantina Zaccagnini has grown from a small family venture into one of the region’s best-known wineries, easily recognised by the signature piece of vine tied around each bottle. Under the guidance of Marcello Zaccagnini, the estate focuses on showcasing Abruzzo’s native varieties, especially Montepulciano, alongside Trebbiano and Pecorino, producing wines that are approachable yet deeply rooted in local tradition.

The vineyards lie between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains, benefitting from significant diurnal shifts that bring freshness and aromatic lift to the wines. Farming is sustainable, with close attention paid to maintaining biodiversity and healthy soils. In the cellar, the approach combines modern technology with traditional methods, aiming for purity of fruit, balance and consistency.

Zaccagnini’s wines are celebrated worldwide for their accessibility, generosity and sense of place—an authentic taste of Abruzzo delivered with both family pride and broad appeal.
