Hoddles Creek
Hoddles Creek was established in 1997 when the D’Anna family decided to plant a vineyard on a property that had been in the family since 1960. As the name suggests, the vineyard sits adjacent to Hoddles Creek and next to Gembrook Road. The site sits on a slope that makes it impossible to work with machines so everything in the vineyard is done by hand. All of their wines are estate-grown, single-vineyard and made in their 300 tonne winery which was built just over 20 years ago.
We’ve recently stocked up on what we would consider to be some of the best value Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the country. The ‘24 ‘Estate Chardonnay’ is de-stemmed and lightly crushed into the press, settles naturally and aged for 11 months on its lees. This does everything you could ask of a Chardonnay at this price - great fruit with a small touch of oak and nice texture and acid. The ‘24 ‘Estate Pinot Noir’ is also de-stemmed and ages in 30% new, 30% 1 year old and the remainder in 2 and 3 year old barrels for 11 months and then bottled without fining or filtration. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better Pinot at this price.
These wines punch significantly above their weight - stock up on these for winter!
