Jean Bouteille

Jean Bouteille Wines is a project established by French original - Jean-Baptiste Courdesses in 2019 after accumulating years of experience around the globe working in various fermentations, farming & hospitality fields. This is a small scale winery based in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills that makes wines by hand from organically farmed grapes using regenerative practices in both the winery and vineyard. The packaging is also made naturally to respect the integrity of the handpicked grapes. Any grapes that Jean purchases are also purchased from like-minded viticulturalists to craft wines from only the highest quality fruit. Jean's wines reflect their respective landscapes and varietal characteristics with winemaking decisions made based on intuitive reaction and natural instinct.

We have 4 of Jean's wines in stock to share with you. The '24 'Ruckus Semillon' comes from 80 year old vines in Vine Vale, east of Barossa and spends a week carbonically macerating before spending 8 months in old French barriques without ouillage. The '24 'Ronin Pinot Gris' comes from Adelaide Hills and is carbonically macerated for a week, then foot-stomped to start a proper infusion of skin and stems in the grape juice. This is left to infuse for three months in a stainless-steel tank before being racked to old French barriques for 8 months. The '24 'Machina Tempranillo' also undergoes carbonic maceration for a week before being aged in a mixture of tank and French barriques for 9 months. Finally, the '24 'Bastion Trousseau' is made from Vine Vale Trousseau that underwent 7 days of carbonic maceration before being crushed and left infusing on its skins for an extra 5 days to build structure and complexity. It is then aged in French barriques for 9 months. These wines have been gracing all the trendiest wine bars in Australia, pickup up your share of this exciting producer and try them yourself!
