Place of Changing Winds Tasting

Saturday 24th

3pm - 6pm

Come down to the store this Saturday to taste the fantastic wines of Place of Changing Winds (POCW). Place of Changing Winds is a high-density vineyard located on the southern foothills of Mount Macedon in central Victoria, Australia. The name comes from the original inhabitants, the Wurundjeri people, who named this place Warekilla or Place of Changing Winds. POCW have already left a lasting impression on the Aussie wine scene as they continue to craft thoughtful and terroir-driven wines. These are the wines we'll be pouring this Saturday:

2022 Marsanne

2022 Syrah No. 2

2022 Harcourt Syrah

2022 Tradition Red

Come down to taste some of these exciting wines from one of Australia's most exciting prospects in recent years!

Jauma

Jauma is one of Australia's best natural wine producers, making wine from McLaren Vale Fruit from their farm based in Lenswood, Adelaide Hills. James Erskine is the head winemaker with a background in soil chemistry and has worked as an award-winning sommelier and national wine judge while his partner Sophie runs the gardening, farming and is the manager for Jauma's public offerings, wellness retreats and their famous festival, Jaumafest. Together they craft some of the most fun and exciting wines in Australia.

Inside the winery, Jauma produces wines from grapes, nothing more. There are no additions of anything — no sulfur, yeasts, acids, tannins, chemicals, preservatives, filtration, polymers, colours, nor any fish, egg or plastic settling agents. This creates pure and living wines, uninhibited in their portrayal of fruit, terroir and character. Having met James and tasted a range of his wines last year, we can attest to the fact that these wines are fresh and free of flaws that are common among many minimal intervention wines. No eye-watering volatile acidity or face-scrunching mousiness here - just excellent expressions of the sites they come from.

We recently picked up 4 wines from Jauma to share with you. The ‘23 ‘Somewhere on Another Hill Sauvignon Blanc’ spends 4 weeks on its skins before being pressed to barrel. This is nothing like a classic ‘Savvy B’, this is actually interesting and doesn’t smell like cat urine. The ‘24 ‘Thousand Fires Chenin/Sauvignon Blanc’ is made from barrel-aged Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc that sees some skin contact and ages in clay amphora resulting in a wine with texture and intrigue. The '23 'Audrey's Fairygarten Carbonic Shiraz' will hit the spot for all of you that are craving a "chilled red" and the '23 'Danby Grenache' is carbonically macerated for 2 weeks then pressed to tank for 11 months - bright, aromatic and spicy. These wines are always good fun and great value, grab your share today!
