Syrahmi Tasting
Saturday 12th
3pm-6pm
Join us this Saturday as we taste the fantastic wines of Syrahmi from Heathcote!
The name Syrahmi is a made up from “Syrah” the French word for Shiraz and “Ami” meaning friend. The idea being a “friendly Shiraz” or “A friend of Shiraz”.
Syrahmi began in 2004 when Adam Foster gave up his day job as a Chef to pursue his dream of becoming a wine maker. He purchased his first tonne and a half of grapes from Heathcote winery and the dream was born.
The Garden of Earthly Delights label represents the wines he makes from non-Rhone varieties and these are equally captivating. Adam has been racking up award after award in recent years for his hard work and stunning wines. These are the wines we'll be pouring on the day:
2023 Garden of Earthly Delights Chardonnay
2022 Garden of Earthly Delights Pinot Noir
2023 Syrahmi Grenache
2020 Syrahmi Mourvedre
2023 Syrahmi Demi Shiraz
2020 Syrahmi Introspect Shiraz
Come down to the store this Saturday and check out some of the most compelling wines coming out of the Heathcote area!

Yohan Lardy
At just over 30 years old, Yohan Lardy represents the new generation of terroir-focused producers in Beaujolais. After finishing his oenological studies in Beaune, Yohan spent time working for a biodynamic producer in Chile before returning to his native land of Beaujolais. These days he owns about 8 ha of vines split between Fleurie, Moulin à Vent, Chenas and Beaujolais-Villages.
Yohan is the fifth generation in his family to grow wine in Beaujolais, but 2012 was the first vintage under his own label. He is working organically in his vineyards, plowing in between the rows and vines so herbicides aren’t needed. The balance of biodiversity that he maintains makes using insecticides unnecessary. All of his work in the vineyard is done manually. In the cellar, whole-cluster fermentation begins spontaneously in concrete or polyethylene tanks and lasts up to three weeks. No SO2 is added during fermentation. He then ages his Cru wines in old Burgundy barrels for 8-10 months.
Yohan's wines represent insane value in Beaujolais, outperforming wines that sell close to twice the price. In fact, I wasn't too convinced of the potential of the 2023 vintage in Beaujolais until I tasted these. The '23 'Poppy Gamay' is sourced from from 60 year old vines planted at 100 meters elevation to soils of clay and limestone from Beaujolais-Village vines, and a little from Moulin-a-Vent. This is fun and fruity but still carries a serious mineral undertone. The '23 'Chenas Deschamps' comes from a plot of 0.22 hectares of 75 year old vines with soils of granite, quartz, and manganese at 300 meters elevation and spends 8 months in neutral French oak barrels. This is dark and spicy yet fresh and elegant. Anyone who is a fan Beaujolais should check out these wines as Yohan creeps up in popularity. Stock up on these for winter!

New Arrivals
At Annandale Cellars, we are always looking for new wines to improve our range, freshen up the shelves and provide some variety for our customers.
We've recently welcomed some new additions to the store that we're excited to get out there in people's glasses. We have 2 new white wines from the CLO range in-store, these are fresh, complex and full of energy without preservatives added at all. The Yal Yal Pinot from Mornington is fantastic at this price - Pinotphiles will know that Pinot is hard to pull off at lower price points but this one shines and looks like an excellent example of Pinot from Mornington which is silky and spicy. The Chateau Mauvesin-Barton is an excellent value Bordeaux from a great vintage which harks back to more classic Bordeaux vintages. This is a classic steak wine. Finally, we welcome a new cuvee from Barossa's Spinifex into the store as we are always impressed with his work.
Check out some of these new wines today!
