Collection: Jacques Lassaigne
Champagne Jacques Lassaigne is an artisanal winery located in Montgueux, France, in the southern Champagne region. The winery is known for its Blanc de Blancs made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the unique terroir of Montgueux.
The estate was established by Jacques Lassaigne and is currently managed by his son, Emmanuel Lassaigne, who took over in the 1990s. Emmanuel is recognized as a dedicated and innovative winemaker who follows natural winemaking practices to highlight the characteristics of his vineyards. He is associated with the "grower Champagne" movement, focusing on producing distinctive wines from his own vineyards.
The Lassaigne vineyards cover approximately 4.7 hectares on the slopes of Montgueux. The soil here is distinct from the chalk found in northern Champagne, featuring a layer of chalky clay-marl over hard Senonian chalk. This soil structure allows for good drainage and moisture retention, contributing to the mineral profile of the Chardonnay grapes. The vineyards are maintained using organic and some biodynamic methods, without the use of pesticides or herbicides.
