South Africa is one of the most prominent wine regions of the southern hemisphere and is often considered a link between the Old World and New World. Perhaps no other country's viticultural scene is as marked by the coast as South Africa's; where vineyards are rarely found more than 50km inland to take advantage of the cool wines that are brought in by Indian and Atlantic Oceans. There are a variety of mountains, aspects and micro-climates that winemakers have to work with resulting in a large array of wine styles.
