Tasting Notes
A pure Pinot Noir cuvée from Bouzy and other grand cru villages of the Montagne de Reims, the Grande Réserve shows an expressive bouquet of red apple, cherry, brioche and toasted almond, with a touch of chalky minerality. The palate is generous yet refined, offering ripe orchard and berry fruit wrapped in a fine mousse, balanced by lively acidity and a savoury, biscuity depth. Finishing long, creamy and precise, it captures both the power of Pinot Noir and the elegance of Clouet’s traditional style. - Chris L
André Clouet is a grower-producer based in Bouzy, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, with roots stretching back to the early 20th century. The estate farms vineyards across several grand cru villages—Bouzy, Ambonnay, Tauxières, Louvois—focusing on Pinot Noir as the signature variety, with select plantings of Chardonnay. Clouet employs sustainable viticulture, emphasising low yields, soil health and responsible vineyard practices.
In the cellar, winemaking is restrained and terroir-led: primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel and oak, with aged reserve wines blended judiciously. Extended lees ageing shapes depth and texture, while careful dosage ensures freshness and clarity. The house style leans toward elegance, an approachable richness and a clear expression of their Bouzy roots.
Today, André Clouet is respected for producing Champagne that bridges grower authenticity and refined depth, appreciated for both its red-fruit character and its capacity to age gracefully.
