Tasting Notes
The standard of Beaujolais that has been produced over the past few vintages has been outstanding. This wine, a cru Morgon from the famed Cote du Py vineyard is another standout. More conventional in style yet still showing the typicity that I have come to love from this cru. A concoction of red and black fruits with an alluring perfume you just want to wear. Fine on the palate with lovely ripe tannins and tension. Love it! - Chris L
Jean Marc Burgaud has been making wine in Beaujolais since 1989. He has planting in the cru regions of Morgon and Regnie, farming in an old fashioned manner whereby he uses no chemical insecticides in the vineyard and only once has felt the need to use a non-organic spray. The vines are planted as traditional bush vines and in high density to yield low and concentrated. The wines are fermented naturally and in a simialr fashion to each other, only varying in site location and maceration time during fermentation. The Burgaud wines are farmed and produced simply, allowing their terroir to speak freely. - Chris L
