Tasting Notes
The Vintage 2010 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a north wind, which aided concentration of flavours and gave rise to an exceptional phenolic maturity. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. This results in red wines with a crunchy flesh and an explosion of red fruits marvellously combined with the minerality of the terroirs. Aged in French oak during 17 months.
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Very pure aromas of red berries (cherries and raspberries) mixed with spices. Beautiful vanilla note. Well-balanced. Voluminous with an elegant and refined texture and a very pure aromatic definition. Well integrated tannins. Subtle oak note. Long aftertaste.
Winery Note:
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : Chanson owns a vineyard of 5.4 hectares in premier Cru "Les Vergelesses". One of the plots of this vineyard has been selected to produce this Pernand-Vergelesses village.
The Vintage 2012 : After a very cold winter and a cold spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again in the second half of August with hot temperatures. The harvest commenced early September under a bright sunshine. The combination of all those climatic factors has engendered a significant drop of the yields but quality is there. Meticulous vinifications have produced wines with very pure aromas and a very fresh structure. Aging in oak casks during 18 months.
Tasting : Bright ruby. Floral Fragrances mixed with cassis and notes of menthol. Well-crafted and concentrated. Rich, suave. Firm texture. Solid and straightforward tannins. Generous finish slightly rustic.
Food pairing : Enjoy with grilled steack and a wide selection of French cheeses, in particular Brie.
