Tasting Notes
A beautiful vigorous white. You could be excused for thinking it's one of those fine (sometimes expensive) white blends from the Loire, or Jura at a stretch. But no, it's a truly fine white from the Languedoc, at the warmer bottom of France. Intense, pure, ripe & rich fruits of the Malvoisie & Grenache Blanc grapes; critically with good acidity support and lower alcohol (13%). It's grown organically & made naturally. Deserves food - I enjoyed it with cold smoked salmon fillets, prosciutto and warm green veggies. It's good (value)! - Michael L
Domaine Ribiera is a small, artisanal estate in the Languedoc, founded in 2005 by François and Marie Ribiera. Situated in Aspiran, in the heart of the Hérault, the domaine farms just a few hectares of vineyards on limestone and clay soils, planted to a mix of Mediterranean and local varieties including Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Terret and Carignan, alongside small parcels of white grapes. The vines are cultivated organically, with a deep respect for biodiversity and minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar.
Winemaking is natural and restrained: fermentations are spontaneous, sulphur is rarely or sparingly added, and élevage is typically in concrete or old oak to preserve purity. The resulting wines are vivid, textured and often delicate in alcohol, expressing freshness and minerality rather than sheer power—an elegant counterpoint to the region’s more robust styles.
Domaine Ribiera has earned a strong reputation among enthusiasts of Languedoc’s new wave, celebrated for producing soulful, terroir-driven wines that are both approachable and distinctive.
