Tasting Notes
This is how to handle Barossa fruit - a darker fruit profile for sure but doesn’t feel cloying or overwhelming. Red and blue plums, blackberry, blueberry, non-sweet spices and the faintest essence of vanilla in the background. Juicy in the. Mouth with only a moderate amount of fine-grained tannins. A lingering finish begging for freshly barbequed meat. - Aaron C.
Brett Grocke is a 6th generation Barossan who believes in 'wines built from the dirt up'. This Magnolia Blanc (100% Semillon) is exactly that. The fruit comes off three organically-farmed sites planted on the granitic sands below Mengler's Hill in the Barossa. There is a beautiful and elegant extraction of apricot-like flavour from the skins of the Semillon which sits long on your palate. It also has a great line and freshness, which is reminiscent of oyster shells. It is delicious and one of the most interesting wines you'll have for the money. Let it open your mind about what Semillon can be. Stunning wine!
