Tasting Notes
Cropped at 600kgs per tonne, matured in one new French hogshead and two used French barriques for 24 months. Deep, dense purple-crimson, it is saturated with black fruits, spices galore and cracked pepper. The fruit has swallowed the new French oak, and the 80 dozen bottled will disappear like water on desert sand. - James Halliday Wine Companion
About the year 2004 Col and Fiona Shepard decided to move to the Eden Valley after Col spent a few months working vintage with a well known winery. You see he'd been bitten by the wine bug and so they relocated from Melbourne soon afterwards buying a little vineyard planted to Shiraz and Riesling. He makes Shiraz and Riesling from the home block and Cabernet, Grenache and Mataro from the vineyards of friends. Every wine is made with Col's care and attention where style and finesse are key to his wines.
