Tasting Notes
A bright fresh zippy and sprightly gamay from the Anjou sub-region in Loire. Nose like raspberries with an interesting cola lift. Fine in the mouth with bright red fruits (a feature of 2016 reds from middle France), good acidity and light tannin. 13% alc. Fun, but serious natural red. - Michael L
This is super carbonic like so many natural red wines, so give it a while to breathe (maybe 2 hours or so). Upon opening its a little spritzy and has slick red fruit profile, but that opens up with time to show a wine that's vibrant red fruits jump out at you in the glass and the palate sings a savoury song. Well structured. - Chris L
Francois St-Lô is quickly becoming a rising star in the world of natural wine; quite a feat considering his first vintage was only in 2012. After apprenticing for Olivier Cousin, Baptiste Cousins' father, he managed to acquire a magical place in the Anjou region of the Loire. With a labyrinth of underground caves, an almost prehistoric cellar and an 18th century wine press, Francois manages to make transformative, character filled wines using his few hectares in Anjou. - Importer Note
