Tasting Notes
Chenin Blanc was originally planted to produce white port style wines and is a little drop of historical, gold in the McLaren Vale. These vines on Sylvestro Genovese's block were planted in the early 1940s, vines in 3-5m white beach sand interspersed with schist and quartz over heavy water holding clay. - Winery Note
James Erskine is a man with genuine passion for his wines and while that may not be unique in the wine world, James is one of the more uniquely creative people in the wine world that you are ever likely to meet. The grapes for this wine come from the Wood Vineyard planted by Ralph Wood in 1988 along the Clarendon Ridge in South Australia skirting the boundary of Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale. All the vines are grown organically without the use of additional water and remain on their original root-stock planted on sandy red-grey over ironstone bedrock.
