Tasting Notes
A tropical cyclone came to New Zealand bringing intermittent rain, infection, and drying winds. He didn't mean to make a Trockenbeerenauslese-style wine. Botrytis started 7-10 days before harvest. Three weeks after harvest he did six or seven passes to fill 800 halves. Brix was 43. RS 175 g/l. - Deep gold. Rich apricot compote. Very clean. Very pure and clean with great freshness acidity and drive. Long. - 18/20 ‚– Jancis Robinson MW
Hiro Kusuda may be the most picky wine producer I've ever met. When it comes to picking the fruit for this wine he calls on the help of friends who gladly don their hats and gloves and spend a week or two individually inspecting each and every bunch of grapes and removing any blemished fruit so that the grapes that are finally chosen to make his wines are perfectly pristine.
