Tasting Notes
Predominantly Corvina and Corvione with smaller portions of Rondinella and Oseleta from vineyards older than 30 years. Only the best parcels make it into this Amarone where the grapes are dried to increase the concentration of sugars, acid and flavour compounds. This is the most decadent style of table wine in Italy, but it is also one that has been softened by age. - Chris L
La Salette is a family-run estate in Valpolicella Classico, established in 1860 and now led by the seventh generation of the Scamperle family. The domaine farms around 20 hectares of vineyards across some of the region’s most esteemed hillside sites, including Fumane, Marano and Sant’Ambrogio, where limestone and basalt soils combine with altitude to bring freshness and aromatic lift to the wines.
The estate focuses on the traditional varieties of Valpolicella—Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina—crafted into a full range of styles from Valpolicella Classico and Ripasso to Amarone and Recioto. Farming is sustainable, with careful hand harvesting and strict fruit selection, while in the cellar the approach balances modern precision with respect for tradition, using both large Slavonian oak and smaller French barriques depending on the cuvée.
La Salette’s wines are noted for their elegance and balance, offering clarity of fruit and structure without excessive weight. They represent a refined, terroir-driven vision of Valpolicella, combining authenticity, family heritage and thoughtful craftsmanship.
