Tasting Notes
A Negroamaro that hails from the warmer southern reaches of Italy where the soils are red and rich in iron oxides. The resulting wine is rich and dark fruited, and accompanied by some sweeter spices. Great value! - Chris L
Luccarelli is a widely respected producer based in Puglia, known for crafting approachable, fruit-driven wines that celebrate the warmth and generosity of southern Italy. Working with vineyards across Salento and other key appellations, the estate focuses on native varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, and Malvasia Nera, often from old, low-yielding vines rooted in the region’s clay and limestone soils. The warm Mediterranean climate, tempered by sea breezes, allows for full ripeness while retaining freshness and balance.
In the cellar, winemaking is modern yet sympathetic to tradition, emphasising clean ferments, careful temperature control and gentle handling to showcase the natural richness of the fruit. Luccarelli’s wines are characterised by their ripe flavours, supple textures and immediate drinkability, offering excellent value and a true taste of Puglia’s sun-soaked vineyards.
