Tasting Notes
Domaine Marc Roy is an impressive Domaine of only four hectares. Their wines are arguably the most accomplished of the village appellation. 'Clos Prieur " is a climat* located right under the Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru climat. Its upper part is classified as 1er Cru whilst its lower part is classified as a village appellation. The highest care is taken when producing this wine making it comparable to good 1er Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin. The wine shows lively fruit as well as subtle earthy flavours. The taste is complex with firm tannins. It can be paired with barbecued red meats, game meat and a large array of cow cheeses. You can cellar it for up to 15 years or enjoy it in its youth by decanting it for 45 minutes before serving. 100% Pinot Noir. - Importer Note
The Roy family has been cultivating grapes for four generations and in 1982, they began bottling their own production to fulfil their passion. With much effort and an acute focus on further enhancing their wines, Marc and his daughter Alexandrine bought a few more blocks of vineyards to increase the size of the Domaine to four hectares.
