Tasting Notes
The Opoka is an orange wine made from Ribolla Gialla. The grapes are left to ferment naturally on skins for about 2 weeks followed by maturation in both ceramic egg and large wooden barrels. The wine is a deep yellow colour full of character that requires time and air to develop it's full bouquet. I smell dried stone fruits, almond and apricot kernel, as well as dried herbs and a touch of cinnamon. A beautiful, complex and reasonably concentrated natural orange wine. Decant and serve at 12 degrees with porcetta or cured meats.- Chris L
The vineyards of Marjan Simcic lay half in Italy and half in Slovenia in the area of Brda. The vineyards are cultivated organically and the wines are produced using natural and ancient methods to express the grapes and the land they are grown in.
