Tasting Notes
A customer favourite. Organically farmed Chenin Blanc from the prized south-facing vineyard of Coteau de la Biche in the Vouvray region of the Loire Valley - that's a lot of bang for your buck! Medium bodied weight with freshness and balance, white florals, quince and zest. - Chris L
Domaine Pichot is one of the most respected family domaines in Vouvray, with a history of grape growing and winemaking that spans several generations. Today, the estate is run by Christophe Pichot, who continues the tradition of producing pure, expressive Chenin Blanc from some of the appellation’s finest terroirs.
The domaine’s 25 hectares of vineyards are split between several prized sites, including the renowned Coteau de la Biche, a steep, south-facing slope of flinty clay over limestone that yields wines of depth, tension and longevity. The vines, averaging 30–40 years of age, are farmed with a strong respect for the land – no herbicides, careful soil work, and low yields ensure healthy fruit and a clear expression of site.
In the cellar, the approach is gentle and traditional: slow fermentations, aging on fine lees, and minimal intervention. The result is a range of wines that span the spectrum of Vouvray styles – from brisk, mineral-driven dry whites to delicately off-dry expressions and richly textured moelleux. In every case, Domaine Pichot’s wines are marked by precision, balance, and the crystalline character of Chenin Blanc grown on Vouvray’s limestone slopes.
