Tasting Notes
One of the great whites of Italy in my opinion. San Lorenzo make this special cuvee in only the best vintages from their organically farmed Verdicchio in the Marche region of Italy. The wine spends almost 12 years on lees in a combination of steel and cement tanks, which makes it both unique in style and ludicrously complex. The wine is concentrated, savoury and unctuous, with so many layers developing as the wine unfurls. It's a beauty... a big beauty. - Chris L
Fattoria San Lorenzo is based in the Marche region in central Italy. Here the Crognaletti family have farmed their land organically and biodynamically, and by hand for three generations, ensuring that nature is put above all else. They produce wines that are pure and pristine at all levels. They are known best for their production of Verdicchio, a local white grape variety, which is treated with different lengths of lees ageing depending on the cuvee (the higher the price, the longer the ageing on lees). This lees ageing adds complexity to the wines, which are beautifully balanced with their fruit profiles. They also make a little bit of red wine too.
