Tasting Notes
Fresh and flavoursome orange wine from the north-eastern reaches of Italy. Located in Carso, Friuli, Skerk grows the native varietal of the region, Vitovska, to produce a fine and delicate expression of the variety. He relies on the extraction of tannin during fermentation as a means of natural preservative rather than the addition of lots of sulfur dioxide. This natural wine shows characteristics of apricots, both dried and fresh, as well as elements of sweet spice and mountain herbs. Delicious and not too ostentatious considering how it is made. - Chris L
