Tasting Notes
A red desert style wine from Valpolicella. Recioto is the name of the style of dessert wine whereby the grapes are dried on mats after harvest, which concentrates both flavour and sugar. The resulting wine from Tedeschi is sweet yet not viscous and cloying. Instead, the upfront sweetness is balanced by dry finish and noticable tannin, making it more refreshing. Loved every sip! - Chris L
Importer Note:
Nicolo Tedeschi founded the Tedeschi estates in 1824 with the operation from grapegrowing to vinification and marketing still in family hands. Since the nineteenth century, Tedeschi have endeavoured to work with nature to create the best wines from indigenous grapes. Today, the company is managed by siblings Riccardo, Sabrina and Antonietta Tedeschi.
The native corvina, corvinone, molinara, dindarella, negrara and rondinella are all grown on the Tedeschi land in the high-trellising systems typical of the Veneto. To make the famously long-lived Amarone, Tedeschi dry their grapes on racks throughout the winter. They have joined with other prominent quality-driven Amarone producers of the Veneto to form the Amarone Families Association, promoting the strict regulation of wines produced within the area under the Amarone umbrella.
