Tasting Notes
Aligote and Chardonnay together from one of the legends of Jura - Jean Francois Ganevat. Here, Jean Francois, ventures to Burgundy for the Aligote and stays in Jura for Chardonnay. Wild fermented, aged in pak casks, unfined, unfiltered, no additions. The wine... rich, full-bodied and full flavoured. Buttered honey, citrus rind, jasmine, rosemary, brioche. Texture and length for days, as always with Ganevat. Give it time to open, decant. - Chris L
The négoce label Anne et Jean-François Ganevat was created in 2013, when Jean-François was joined by his sister Anne to broaden the scope of the domaine beyond their estate vineyards in the Jura. The project sources fruit from trusted, organically farmed growers across Jura, Savoie, Alsace and Beaujolais, allowing the Ganevats to explore a wider palette of varieties and terroirs while applying the same natural, low-intervention philosophy that defines their domaine wines.
In the cellar, fermentations are spontaneous, sulphur is used sparingly if at all, and élevage takes place in a mix of neutral oak, amphora and stainless steel, often over extended periods. The resulting wines—whether bright, pure Chardonnays, textured blends of rare Jura varieties, or joyful, fruit-driven reds from Beaujolais—are expressive, vibrant and soulful. Anne and Jean-François’ négoce bottlings carry the same artisanal spirit as the domaine, while offering a more playful and wide-ranging window into their world of natural wine.
