Tasting Notes

The Omensetter, 100% made from fruit grown at the BH Omensetter estate vineyard. The site owes its name to the eponymous hero of the William H. Gass novel 'Omensetter's Luck ". Ever since Brash Higgins' founder Brad Hickey first laid eyes on the site in 2007, he has dreamed of capturing its promise of goodness in a select blend of grapes. - Brash Higigns

We adore the philosophy and expression of all the Brash Higgins wines. Each wine has a unique approach in order to reflect the parcel of fruit in different ways. There's a plethora of alternate fermentation vessels used to harbour the grapes that are picked at different ripeness levels. The result... a range of incredibly versatile and tactile wines from McLaren Vale.

Brash Higgins aka Brad Hickey was once a sommelier at some of the great restaurants around the world. Love had other plans for Brad though and he found himself in the sandy soils of McLaren Vale where Brash Higgins was born. The Brash Higgins home vineyard, Omensetter, is located between the Willunga Escarpment and the Gulf of Saint Vincent on an easterly aspect. Shiraz and Cabernet were originally planted here, but Brash has since added Nero d'Avola and the rare Chinese/Greek Crystal variety. The vineyard is planted on red-brown clay over limestone and benefits from the cooling influence of the southern ocean. The Omensetter vineyard is certified organic and all of the other vineyards Brash sources from also encompass this approach.
