Tasting Notes
Referred to by Kerin O’Keefe as ‘perhaps the most historic cru in all of Barolo’ the fruit for Brezza’s version comes from perhaps the most historic part of the vineyard which faces to the south-east. Fermentation and maceration last for around 30 days before being aged in large, neutral Slavonian oak for 24 months. The resultant wine is one with terrific aromatic purity, laden with fresh roses and blood orange. The palate shows restraint now with red cherries, pomegranates and red currants showing, framed by mouth coating sweet tannins and a vibrant back palate lift. Pretty now and also hinting at what is to come. - Importer Note
The Brezza private estate lies next to the small town of Barolo, immersed in the vineyards, as is the nearby Hotel Barolo and Restaurant Brezza, also property of the Brezza family.
The estate extends over 31 hectars, of which 20 are vineyards, some dating back to 1885. The wines are all certified as DOCG 'Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita " (controlled and guaranteed appellation of origin) or DOC 'Denominazione Origine Controllata " (controlled appellation of origin). ‚– Winery Note
