Tasting Notes

Deeply coloured and full of character, this Saperavi offers aromas of blackberry, black cherry and plum, layered with notes of spice, graphite and dried herbs. The palate is bold yet balanced, with concentrated dark fruit wrapped in firm, finely structured tannins and lifted by fresh acidity. A touch of earthy savouriness and mineral depth carries through to a long, persistent finish. It is a powerful but finely crafted example of Georgia’s flagship red grape. - Chris L

Brother’s Marani is a small, family-run winery based in Kakheti, eastern Georgia — the cradle of Georgian viticulture. Founded by Giorgi and Davit Glonti, the estate is dedicated to crafting authentic qvevri wines that honour Georgia’s 8,000-year-old winemaking heritage while embracing a modern sense of precision and balance. The name Marani, meaning “cellar” in Georgian, reflects the central role of the clay qvevri vessels used for fermentation and ageing, buried underground in the traditional manner.

The brothers farm organically across several small vineyard plots in the Telavi and Kardenakhi areas, focusing on native varieties such as Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Khikhvi, and Saperavi. Yields are kept low, and all fruit is hand-harvested to preserve purity and natural balance. Fermentations are spontaneous with native yeasts, and the wines are neither filtered nor fined, allowing the character of each grape and site to shine through.

Brother’s Marani wines are known for their harmony, texture and quiet intensity—amber whites that combine grip and freshness, and reds of energy and earthy depth. Each bottle reflects the authenticity of Georgian qvevri winemaking, guided by a thoughtful, family touch.
