Tasting Notes
An epic single vineyard wine coming from a site packed with old volcanic soils that sits right on the coast in Salina. It's made with Malvasia delle Lipari which is a native clone of Malvasia. It's got layers of ripe pear, white flowers and honey suckle and hints of exotic spice. There is a saline and chalky character to the wine that adds a savoury element making you want to rush back for more. Such a cool wine. - Pete L
Caravaglio is the artisanal project of Antonino (Nino) Caravaglio on the volcanic island of Salina in the Aeolian archipelago. The Caravaglio family has cultivated vines here since the 1500s, and today Nino continues the legacy with more than 20 hectares on Salina and neighboring isles, all farmed organically and in complete harmony with nature.
His vineyards sit amid stony, volcanic soils, shaped by ocean breezes and rich in mineral texture and sea-salty character. Nino works entirely by hand—from vineyard to bottle—with native yeast fermentations, minimal sulfites, and a deep respect for historical grape varieties like Malvasia delle Lipari and the rare, ancient Corinto Nero.
The wines—ranging from bone-dry whites to aromatic and macerated expressions—are direct reflections of place: vivid, mineral-driven, and uncommonly soulful, each bottle capturing the smoky, sun-washed identity of the Aeolian Islands.
