Tasting Notes
Brilliant! If you know me well you'll know I've always adored the Jura and its wines. This is one of my favourite explorations from the Jura. 100% Savagnin grown on the marnes blanches (white marl soils) of the Jura that are deep limestone-clays. The wine is handled oxidatively (yet still ouille, for those in the know) but without the use of flor, which means the wine will be savoury and powerful but it will still maintain it's freshness and tight acidity that holds it all together. This is a wine of terroir and personality, and I absolutely loved it to the very last drop. - Chris L
Pauline and Geraud Fromont began Domaine des Marnes Blanches in 2006. Their certified organic vineyards are located in the Jura's Sud Revermont region, which is also home to a lot of the Jura's natural wine producers (including Ganevat). The estate is 10 hectares planted on white marl soils, as the domaine's name suggests. They produce 2 main styles of wine; topped up (ouille) and oxidative (sous voile) for which they have 2 different cellars to mature the wines in their ideal conditions. They are young and energetic producers which is reflected in their living wines. A producer fit for every wine lovers table and one to watch into the future. - Chris L
