Tasting Notes
Dino is 100% Sangiovese fermented in amphora and bottled with no added sulphites. Dino was made in honor of Fontodi's founder, Dino Manetti, and this is the fourth year that the wine has seen a commercial release. An experimental version of the wine has been in production since 2008. 'The 2016 Dino is 100% Sangiovese done in terra cotta, which brings out the wine's perfumed aromatics and bright acid profile. A touch of reduction -typical of wines done in amphora - adds striking character to play off the young Sangiovese acids and tannins. Dino remains distinctive, if hard to place stylistically within the range, as it is quite different from the other wines here. Drink 2021-2031' 93 Points ‚– Antonio Galloni
Fontodi is located in the heart of Chianti Classico precisely in the valley which lies south of the town of Panzano and is called the 'Conca d'Oro " (the golden shell) because of its amphitheatre shape.
