Tasting Notes
From mature vines averaging over 60 years, this cuvée captures the grace and perfume of Chambolle. The nose is lifted with red cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal, intertwined with subtle spice and mineral dust. The palate is silken and precise, showing fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, floral finish. Elegant and pure, it offers a beautiful balance of delicacy and structure, reflecting both old vines and the refinement of the appellation. - Chris L
Domaine Hubert Lignier is one of the great traditional estates of the Côte de Nuits, based in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis. The Lignier family has been making wine here since the late 19th century, and under the stewardship of Laurent Lignier—who now works alongside his father Hubert—the domaine continues to produce some of Burgundy’s most classically structured and long-lived wines.
The estate’s holdings span exceptional terroirs across Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, including premier and grand cru sites such as Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Morey 1er Cru Les Chaffots. Farming is carried out organically with great attention to soil health and vine balance, ensuring low yields and concentrated, expressive fruit.
In the cellar, Laurent and Hubert maintain a resolutely traditional approach: hand harvesting, partial whole-cluster fermentations with indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction, and élevage in French oak (with new oak kept to moderate levels). The resulting wines combine intensity and finesse—Pinots of depth, perfume and fine-grained tannin that reflect their sites with clarity and precision.
Domaine Hubert Lignier remains a benchmark for Morey-Saint-Denis and a standard-bearer for authentic, terroir-driven Burgundy.
