Tasting Notes
The pale white gold luminous colour is attractive to look at and this, the entry point of the Litaud range, is a generous and sensual wine. Creamy, zesty fresh and full of fruit and flowers, the 'Les Pommards' reveals shades of tangerine, white peach, marzipan and fleurs blanches all in an expansive style that is ready to enjoy right now. Open-knit and showy already this is a very lovely wine and the incisive acidity, purity and even balance to finish are a stylistic hark to her mentor! - Importer Note
Jessica Litaud is an incredibly talented vigneronne who has taken over the family estate following extensive work with Jean-Marie Guffens and also Ganevat in the Jura. These really are some of the greatest wines from a new producer I’ve tried.
Jessica Litaud travelled extensively and then returned to the family estate in 2018 to settle in her native village of Vergisson, a gorgeous village at the foot of the Roche de Solutré.
She has taken over just 2ha of the family estate; her father Jean-Jacques was also a vigneron. She has immediately converted the plot to organic farming with the knowledge that this cut yields but catapults quality. You will experience this in her wines.
In the vineyards she practices mechanical weeding, picking, all synthetic chemicals are of course prohibited and in order to ensure optimal quality of the harvest, it is done manually in 7kg boxes. Temperature control is essential to ensure vinification without inputs other than the lowest possible dose of sulfur.
If these become available online at any point you should snap them up without hesitation.
