Tasting Notes
Madre Espadín carries both tradition and character in the glass. Sourced from a patchwork of Oaxacan villages and distilled by Carlos Blas in Matatlán, it opens with a mix of savoury and quirky aromatics—olive brine, a touch of rubbery smokiness, and hints of green herbs. Beneath that, softer notes of pear, apple and citrus weave through. The palate is light to medium in weight, smooth and easy to approach, with Espadín’s grassy, herbal core leading into gentle smoke and a peppery, earthy finish. It has enough complexity to keep you coming back, yet remains soft enough to sip neat or slide easily into cocktails. - Pete L
