Tasting Notes
This wine sees a bit more whole bunch (around 50%) than the while label but holds it beautifully, bell pepper, olive tapenade and dried meat, the palate is tightly woven and compact but with acers of frut weight lurking in the background. Its pretty but simultaneously powerful and very, very drinkable. - Distributor Note
Nick O’Leary is one of the leading modern voices in Canberra District wine, renowned for his precise, energetic expressions of Riesling and Shiraz. After working alongside regional pioneers, Nick established his own label in 2004, quickly earning acclaim for wines that marry clarity and vibrancy with subtle complexity.
The vineyards are centred around the cool-climate sites of Murrumbateman, where granite soils and high altitude produce fruit of natural intensity and structure. Nick works closely with growers and also manages estate vineyards, focusing on sustainable farming and low yields to ensure purity of flavour.
In the cellar, the approach is minimal and meticulous: hand-harvested fruit, gentle pressing, wild ferments where suitable, and judicious use of oak. Riesling is particularly celebrated—dry, crystalline and age-worthy—while his Shiraz shows the hallmark perfume, spice and elegance of the district.
Nick O’Leary’s wines are benchmarks for Canberra, consistently delivering finesse, balance and a strong sense of place.
