Tasting Notes
Tightly wound and complex. Stoney mineral notes. White licorice. Beautifully balanced. Fruit sourced from a single vineyard planted in the early ‘90s with classic Ordovician soils - a mixture of mudstone, shale, and granite. The character and texture of the vineyard shines through this wine.
Aged in large-format oak (foudre), clay egg (giving fineness on the back palate), and barrique. No new oak. The structure and integrity of the fruit is intense. Savoury, salty, tighter, and finer on every aspect of the palate. This wine will improve in the glass. - Winemaker Note
Chris Catlow founded Sentio in 2013 after stints working alongside some of Beechworth’s most respected names. A native of the region, Chris takes a thoughtful, almost architectural approach to winemaking, seeking precision and purity across his range. The vineyards he works with sit high in the hills of Beechworth and nearby King Valley, providing cool nights and long ripening seasons that deliver exceptional balance.
Sentio wines are marked by their clarity and restraint – Chardonnay, Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir lead the way, showing fine detail and mineral drive, while Syrah, Gamay and other small-batch releases highlight the depth and diversity of the regions. Chris’ focus is always on letting site and season speak, with sensitive handling in the cellar, wild ferments, and minimal new oak. These are modern, finely tuned Beechworth wines that capture both elegance and vitality.
