France is undeniably one of, if not the greatest, wine producing country in the world. With such a vast variation in terroirs - from the chalky limestone of Champagne, the schist of Loire, gravel in Bordeaux and rocky terrain of the Rhone, there are endless unique wines to explore. France is often considered to both the birthplace and benchmark of many of the world's most popular varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Bordeaux, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Burgundy and Grenache and Syrah in the Rhone just to name a few. Although most wallet's won't allow it, one can never get tired of drinking French wine.
